Low fat diets have been shown in studies not to be very effective. I'm glad to see that sevenfiftyseven lost so much weight. Keep up the good work. Although I am not a big fan of the atkins diet because it doesn't teach people how to eat healthy. It works great for losing a lot of weight but you shouldn't use it long term.

I have read many books about low carb. Maybe you should. :)

I can eat nuts. Peanuts and almonds and macadamias are my faves. Full of yummy fat. :)

I have heard that before. Some children with epilepsy are put on a low-carb (ketogenic) diet and it does reduce their seizures.

Agreed. "Seems wrong" does not sound too scientific.

You need the book to follow the Atkins diet, but you don't need the book to follow any other low-carb diet. That was my point. Contrarily to the public opinion, Atkins is not the only nor the first to advocate a low-carb diet!

You can get it from any bookstore or really cheap from Amazon. I disagree with MQ - you do need the book as the Atkins Web site does not have complete information and is more about making money than staying healthy. Get the book, written by the doctor himself.

"Seems wrong." But have you looked at the research? The body turns pasta is turned into glucose in order to be absorbed and is therefore no better than sugar. |
